Well, where do I begin?
I Love good food. This is perhaps one of the little known secrets about myself that I enjoy sharing with others. From fruit and veggie juices to dehydrated treats (like kale chips, mmmmm kale), I Love food. My Love of food has often found its way into my passion for writing and social activism via LoraxCommunity. Truth be told, it is no miracle that when foods meet my other passions, magical things happen.
When I meet Frank and Deicy, owners Graffiteria LA (the newest food truck on the avenues and boulevards of Los Angeles) at the Sylmar Olive Festival, I knew something magical was on the horizon. The vision that was presented to me was “fresh Art, fresh food.” Well, last night, I had tacos (on homemade tortillas!!!) with frijoles/beans, avocado, lettuce, tomato, cilantro and radishes, with a squeeze of lemon on the side. Verdict? FUNK YEA!!!!
So I bet you’re asking, “where does the art come in?”
The art, beside the rotating menu, is found on the truck itself. Graffiteria LA, in addition to being a topnotch food truck, is also a mobile art gallery. Currently the truck is hosting copies of the 2013 Toyon Literary Journal, CDs of Earthikana Soultonix and blank artcards from LA-Artist.com— artcards are used for “sketches, collages, photographs, and words [to] help to document L.A. County’s varied creative framework and influence.”
Footnote: LA-Artist.com is currently accepting submissions for their 2013 artcard book. All submissions considered, deadline is 31 December 2013.
In short, all I can say is that the big yellow truck that is Graffiteria LA is on the rise and is a must for Angelinos who, like myself, Love art as much as they Love food.
STAY TUNED FOR PART TWO: Who are Frank and Deicy?
