Michael Ray “De Los Angeles” Menjivar, is an Angelino, born and raised, a poet, bicyclist and nationally recognized artist. During the 1990s he painted throughout Northeast Los Angeles alongside muralist Peter Quezada; his interest in theatre was enriched by the theatre troupe Tres Culturas, which performed throughout the San Fernando area. His work can be found in Chicano Art: The neighborhood Art of Peter Quezada; Rushing Waters Rising Dreams: How The Arts Are Transforming A Community (published by Tia Chucha’s Press); the Toyon Literary Journal;;; and Humboldt State University, Women’s Resource Center’s: The Matrix. Currently he is behind the camera, documenting the growth and changes to the ecological landscape within the Los Angeles area. Along this journey he earned a Bachelors Degree in English Literature from Humboldt State University; The President’s Volunteer Service Award; and at the 2013 Sylmar Olive Festival was dubbed “most original chalk artist” for his piece, “OMGMO.”
