During the month of October, FLAAR’s Angelino Empowerment: Community Dialogues in Sylmar is asking “what does it take to build community, and local identity?” This October, Selected excerpt from Los Angeles: Structure of A City Government by Raphael J. Sonenshein will be read, examined and discussed– free copies of the book are still available. In addition to the introduction of critical reading, debates and public speaking skills, the participants in this month’s community forums will have the opportunity to discuss potential locations for gardens and areas in need of community beautification.
